Week #13

Only 36 more sleeps until I am on a plane… on my way to DisneyWorld!  YEAH!!!! 🙂

So…. this week I accepted the fact that from now till the start of the race…. I will not be able to do ‘all’ the training runs during the week and weekend.   I want to stop feeling guilty about not getting everything in.

I should have realized from my training last year for DisneyWorld that with Christmas time, family and work…. it just doesn’t work unless I only focus on the running and I’m not willing to sacifice my family. 

Here is my new outlook….  With 5 weeks left…. I’m going to try and get 2 more 10 mile (16 km) and 20 mile (32km) back-to-back runs in before the race (hopefully, my last run will be around December 26, 27ish…. so that I have a week of recovery.   During the week…. I’m going to try and fit in runs when I can and maybe at some weights and hills.

This past week was okay… no more than okay…. I managed to do one run during the week and then on Saturday – 3.1 miles (5km), Sunday – 10miles (16km) and Today (Monday) – 19.556 miles (~32km)…. Yes…. I managed to just run shy of the 20 miles but as my husband said…. CLOSE ENOUGH!   

I felt like doing the Buzz and Woody race scheduled for Friday morning and the 1/2 marathon for Saturday morning and the full for Sunday morning!   Hmmm…. maybe I should register for the Buzz and Woody Race for Friday (I’m there anyways….).

The run today was good.   3:51 was my time and my mantra for the last 1/2 hour of my run was ‘PAY FOR IT NOW or PAY FOR IT LATER’…. yes…. I’m listening to you Jimmey Cricket!

This week…. I’m going to try and do 1 run in the week and probably pull back my distance… so that I can push and do another 10mile/20mile back-to-back the following week.

Week #12

Only 6 more weeks left!

This week was a little spotty (more spots than I wanted).   It was tough week.   I really tried to keep in mind…. pay for it now or pay for it later.

I basically did two runs this week…. one on Wednesday…. about 4 miles (6.4 km) and on Saturday morning…. about 7 miles (11.2km)…. Reality is…. today (Sunday) was not a great day….   I think mentally…. things were not going the way they were planned and I was frustrated and left not doing my run.

I was going to do my run around 11:00am this morning but my kids had a few different ideas.   Then trying to readjust to do the run later in the day (around 2:00pm)…. when I could have done a run next…. I was not mentally prepared….   Too much on my mind…..

Not sure what things are going to be like this week (not any better than last week) but I need to keep my mind focused on getting runs in.   Thoughts will be do to my 10 mile (16km) run on Sunday, November 28th and 20 mile (32 km) run on Monday, November 29th.   The week leading up to them will be a few runs of 4-5miles (6.4 – 8 km) runs.   I am going to stay positive and make sure I don’t slip up and not do my runs.

Week #11

Well…. Well… Well….   It has been a better week…..

I did manage to do my 19m (30.6km) run on the Friday, through the fog and all!   Yes…. it was foggy in the morning…. really debated if I should go for a run but… hearing the words from my ‘jimmey cricket’… yes I am hearing you!   Pay for it now or pay for it later.

I ran in the fog for most of the time…. it cleared by the end…. finished it in 3 hours and 43 mins (not a great time) but I did stop a couple of time for a good 3-4 mins (to go to the washroom and refill my water bottle).   Also, I was trying to get to a luncheon by 1:00pm!

I’m not sure I am going to manage this week and my runs.   I have long days this week (5:30am start and possibly 5-6pm finish and then kids activities….) but I am optimistic that I will get a few runs during the week and hopefully the 10 mile (16 km) and 20 mile (32 km) run on the weekend.

Week #10

Well….  what can I say…. it was a so-so week…  being in Milwaukee for work didn’t help.   Only managed to do 28.1 miles (45 km) in total for the week.   My runs were slow and squeezed inbetween kids activities.   My long runs were 8.7 miles (13.9 km) on Saturday and 12.9 miles (20.6 km) on Sunday.   I know… I know….. pay for it now or later…..   

So… my plan of action for the week…. since…. I’m going to be pretty busy this weekend and I do have some time during the week….. is the following:

Monday – crosstrain/lower body weights
Tuesday – some hills/upper body weights
Wednesday – REST, REST, REST
Thursday – 9m (14.4km)
Friday – 19 m (20.4km)
Saturday – light running

Week #9

So…. I’m heading into Week #9.    Last week’s runs were….. let’s just say PATHETIC!

I didn’t do the long run yesterday….. only 7.3 miles (11.8km) but it was in a ‘freak’ snow storm/hailing…. yes…. running through the wet, small pellets.   Although, I must say…. when I did my two runs on the weekend, they felt great but they were shorter distances (Saturday – 6 miles (9.8 km).

I’m writing this as I’m waiting for my flight to Milwaukee…. so… I’m not sure what my runs will be like this week.   I have all my running gear and hopefully, I’ll get out and see the city through my shoes.   I have already lined up to do a LONG run on Sunday for 17 miles (27.6 km).   I’m not even going to put up what I’ll be running all week…..  I’ll let you know next Sunday/Monday…. AND by the way…. it is my Birthday on the Friday!

Week #8

Okay…. just a few hours ago…. I did 2 hours and 35 mins on the TREADMILL!!!!!    Yikes!

The weather was ‘iffy’ and I didn’t want to get caught in a downpour…. so I move the long run into the gym.   Not my best judgement call….. BUT it’s done and so were the runs for the week… just it ended up that I did go to the gym one night at 8:30pm and I didn’t make my Thursday run and I cut down my Saturday run to 4miles…. Yes…. it was a so-so week…. As I head into Week #8…. here is the schedule:

Monday – crosstrain/weights (we shall see how much time I have)
Tuesday – 4 miles (6.4 km)
Wednesday – 8 miles (12.8 km)
Thursday – 4 miles (6.4 km) perhaps with hills
Friday – REST, more REST and MORE REST
Saturday – maybe my long run (17 miles – 27.2km) or light run
Sunday – loooooong run……. (17 miles – 27.2km)

Week #7

Well…. 1 hour and 41 mins on the treadmill on Sunday morning….  It was an okay run.   A little hard to do on the treadmill but I did it!    🙂

Last week’s training was done…. not great… but done.   Here is what I have coming up:

Monday – crosstrain (I’m going to try and add it this in from now on)
Tuesday – 8miles (12.8km)
Wednesday – 4 miles (6.4km) with hills
Thursday – probably nothing – if possible 4 miles (6.4 km)
Friday – REST, REST, REST – big run coming up
Saturday – 8 miles (12.8km)
Sunday – 16 miles (25.6 km)
I will be at a client towards the end of the week…which means…. my days will be from 5:30am – 6pm with kids activities in the evening…..   We shall see how the training goes this week.  Smile
